Workshop on Research Methods and Industry Collaboration organized by ATNAmbassador Noel Campbell and Mr. Niclas Jonsson, Advisor for Education and Science for Latin America from the Education and Training Ministry, attended the event among other officials.

The activity focused on the Australian experience on research methods, research and researchers' training and the liaison between Universities and the Industry.

The Australian Studies Centre was invited by ATN and it was represented by Dr. Lorena Betancor, responsible for the ASC's Biotechnology key area of study.

These events support the ASC strategy of developing exchange of experiences between Australia and Latin America and expanding our activities from Uruguay to the region.

ASC’s main objectives

ASC’s main objectives

  • To organize conferences, seminars and roundtables about Australian current issues and their relationship with the region.

  • To promote overseas study and student exchange programs.

  • To promote academic cooperation with Australian universities, in particular faculty exchange programs and activities in support of the Uruguayan postgraduate system.

  • To develop courses on Australian history, politics, international relations, economics, business, society, education, culture, literature, sustainability and environmental topics.

  • To develop comparative research projects between Australia and the region.

On Friday 9 March 2018 we received the visit of Cathy Raper, Head of Europe and Latin America Engagement at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.

Dr Francisco Rosas, one of ASC research colleagues, was invited to AARES Annual Conference to present his paper on “The effect of irrigation on income volatility reduction: A prospect theory approach”.

In December 2017 the ASC received the visit of Ms Natalie Collard, Board Member of COALAR, the Council for Australian and Latin-American Relations.

We thank Ambassador Noel Campbell for his permament support to the ASC and share his interview on the role of The Australian Studies Centre after his visit to Montevideo to participate on the 2nd ASC Board Meeting.
