Natalie Collard from COALAR visited ASC

Last December, the ASC received the visit of Ms Natalie Collard, Board Member of COALAR, the Council for Australian and Latin-American Relations.

*Natalie Collard*As part of her mission to Uruguay and the Region, Natalie had meetings with young entrepreneurs and women in Business, as well as promoting exchange programs between Australia and the Uruguayan government.

Natalie met Dr. Mario Bergara, Uruguayan Central Bank President and senior officials from the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining. Her visit aimed at promoting knowledge and business related to FinTech, AgTech, Innovation and Women in Leadership. Ms Collard is a Victorian business woman, and she is currently Executive General Manager Industry Development for the Clean Energy Council, Australia’s peak body for renewable energy.

ASC’s main objectives

ASC’s main objectives

  • To organize conferences, seminars and roundtables about Australian current issues and their relationship with the region.

  • To promote overseas study and student exchange programs.

  • To promote academic cooperation with Australian universities, in particular faculty exchange programs and activities in support of the Uruguayan postgraduate system.

  • To develop courses on Australian history, politics, international relations, economics, business, society, education, culture, literature, sustainability and environmental topics.

  • To develop comparative research projects between Australia and the region.

More than 30 students from the University of New England (UNE) from Armidale Australia, and a group of four faculty members visited Uruguay in June 2018 on an agriculture studies ground tour.

On June 20th 2018, Chris Gale, Chairman at COALAR (Council for Australia and Latin America Relations) from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) visited the Australian Studies Centre, having met with Board Members and Executive Team.

On Friday 9 March 2018 we received the visit of Cathy Raper, Head of Europe and Latin America Engagement at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.
